ONTSTAAN
We zagen eerder de #occupywallstreet demonstraties ontstaan op 17 September. Zij demonstreren voor vrijheid en gelijkheid voor iedereen en kijken daarbij naar Wall Street. Iedereen dient niet alleen een eerlijke toegang te krijgen in de rijkdommen van de wereld, maar ook een gelijk beslissingsrecht te hebben. Niet slechts enkelen!
Het kiezen van vertegenwoordigers die hun afspraken niet nakomen is GEEN democratie. Een land dat staatsschulden heeft door de monopoliepositie van de banken op het drukken van geld is GEEN vrij land.
Occupy Amsterdam is een actie in samenwerking met de #globalchange en #occupywallstreet demonstraties. Wij willen door een vreedzame demonstratie de aandacht op deze onderwerpen vestigen.
We nodigen iedereen uit om met ons naar oplossingen te zoeken en met ons een verbetering te bewerkstelligen! Vooruitgang, vooruitstreven, samenwerken en bewustwording zijn de sleutelwoorden van deze activiteiten.
Occupy Amsterdam heeft geen leiders of vertegenwoordigers. Dit is een actie namens en voor iedereen.
In solidariteit met http://occupywallst.org zullen we Amsterdam 15 oktober gaan bezetten!
STATEMENT
We zijn gewone mensen. We zijn, zoals jij, individuen die elke ochtend opstaan om te studeren, werken of werk zoeken, mensen met familie en vrienden.
Sommigen zien zichzelf als progressief, anderen als conservatief, als gelovig -of niet-, als ideologisch of juist zonder duidelijk omlijnde politieke opvattingen.
We zijn echter allemaal bezorgd vanwege de politieke, economische en sociale toestand om ons heen. We zijn gevangen in het spel van politici, zakenlui en bankiers waarin het gros wordt achtergelaten; achtergelaten zonder stem of uitzicht op fundamentele verbetering.
Gelijkheid, solidariteit, vrijheid, duurzaamheid, ontwikkeling en welvaart en welzijn voor de bevolking hoort het streven van elke ontwikkelde maatschappij te zijn.
Ons monetair, economisch en politiek systeem slagen er niet in deze rechten te doen gelden en zijn in veel gevallen eerder een obstakel in de realisatie er van.
Ons monetaire systeem geeft de bank de mogelijkheid geld uit lucht te maken en uit te lenen tegen rente. De opbouwende rente voor het individu, het midden en kleinbedrijf of de samenleving -in de vorm van overheidsschulden- laat een samenleving achter in exponentiële schuld en concentreert macht op een schaal ongekend in onze geschiedenis. Het maakt de weg vrij voor een onethische graaicultuur van immense proporties.
De werking van ons huidige economische systeem versterkt vervolgens de ongelijkheid en schaarste. Waar onze kennis in techniek en automatisering ons overvloed en vrijheid kan bieden, laat het ons na in noodzaak en arbeid. Deze kennis bracht ons eerder de vrijheid van handmatig werk, de Industriële Revolutie. De vrijheid in arbeid maakte zo plaats voor de dienstensector. Technologische werkloosheid maakt nu zelfs de banen in de dienstensector in snel tempo overbodig; ze komen niet meer terug. De vruchten van onze kennis en vooruitgang dienen nu slechts enkelen en laat een steeds grotere groep, de 99%, in noodzaak.
De macht van de politiek ligt vervolgens in de verdeelsleutel van deze schaarste. Onderhevig aan groeiende schuld bij de banken via het monetaire systeem én onderhevig aan de noodzaak voor economische groei om de uitgaven -na renteaflossing- gelijk te houden. De schuld van de overheid mag immers niet meer dan 60% van het Bruto Binnenlands Product (BNP) zijn. Fictieve schulden, reële bezuinigingen. De politiek speelt het spel der bezuinigen in volle onwetendheid. De democratie, gevangen in verdelingsvraagstukken, representeert niet de belangen van ons, de 99%.
We bevinden ons in een systeem gefocust op de accumulatie van geld. Het is een in stand gehouden schaarstemiddel om ons toegang te geven tot de grondstoffen en goederen. Zoals het World Food Programme evenals de Verenigde Naties (middels FPA) erkent is er genoeg voedsel om ons allen te voorzien. Armoede lijkt zo meer te zeggen over de mogelijkheid goederen uit een systeem te onttrekken met behulp van het schaarstegoed geld. In deze zoektocht naar geld creëren we naast armoede een verspilling van grondstoffen en vernietigen een bewoonbare planeet.
In waarneming van een wereld vol mogelijkheden lijkt de keuze van de consument steeds beperkter. In een wereld vol rijkdommen weegt de noodzaak tot arbeid om aan geld te komen steeds minder op tegen de mogelijkheden die het biedt. We dragen allen bij aan de versterking van dit systeem.
De schaamteloze toe-eigening van zowel grondstoffen als menselijk kapitaal houdt echter op, hier en nu!
We hebben een revolutie nodig die het welzijn van mens, maatschappij en aarde weer bovenaan zet.
We vragen om verdieping en bewustwording. Een begrip dat enkel kan vragen om verandering. Dat begint bij het individu, maar samen vinden we elkaar en maken het verschil. Laten we ons verzamelen en invulling geven aan ideeën voor de dag van morgen.
Het is tijd om samen te komen en onze krachten te bundelen. Het is tijd voor verandering!
Het is tijd om samen toe te werken naar een betere samenleving voor allen.
Ik weet dat wat ik doe het verschil maakt.
Ik bén de verandering en sta in Den Haag/Amsterdam!

Earlier we saw the #occupywallstreet protests starting on September 17th. They protest for freedom and equality for the 99% that and have put their sights on Wall Street for that. The 99% shouldn’t only get a fair share of the worlds wealth, but have equal decision rights as well.
Choosing representatives that do not keep their promises is NOT a democracy. A country that has national debt because of the monopoly position of the banks on creating money is NOT a free country.
#OccupyDenHaag is a movement in cooperation with the #globalchange and #occupytogether protests. We want to use non-violent protests to draw attention to these subjects.
We invite everyone to look with us for solutions and to achieve positive change with us! Progress, looking forward, cooperation and becoming aware are the keywords for these protests.

Official statement by the Indignants at Syntagma
Dear friends, brothers and sisters,
We are the ones that have fought for a month at Syntagma square in Athens. We organize ourselves with direct democracy excluding all political parties. Our voice is our everyday people’s assembly.
We are indignant because others decide for us without us and mortgage our future; they impose loans that do not benefit the people but the banks and governments’ interests. We are indignant because they terrify us using the deterrent of bankruptcy. Not only do they try to scare us but they also try to set people against each other.
- We do not want any more support loans.
- We do not want public property to be sold off.
- We do not want the medium-term program to pass.
- We do not want the socialization of losses and privatization of gains.
Unite your voice with ours.
They are using our sacrifices and yours so that few acquire wealth.
We are here today, you will be here tomorrow.
We take to the streets everyday.
Every Sunday hundreds of thousands of citizens gather at the squares of all Greece, Syntagma being the core.
The medium-term austerity program will not pass.
Journalists hush, we do not.
We urge all the people of Europe and all trade unions to organize solidarity and mutual support actions on the day of the medium-term program vote.

A WARNING TO THE TROIKA, BANKS AND LOCAL OR FOREIGN PROSPECTIVE INVESTORS WHO DREAM OF OBTAINING GREEK PUBLIC PROPERTY
A revoked and dictatorial government that doesn’t represent the people of this country has just passed bills (Midterm Agreement, Implementation law) to sell up Greek public property and land, against the will of the vast majority of the people.
We inform those who look forward to an investing opportunity that we will, in a very short time, overthrow this government and all responsible will answer for their crimes against the people and the country. Their bills and signatures are not valid. They have not been validated by the Greek people and they will not be recognized by the people.
We warn any investor not to even think of coming near an auction or sale of our public property or land and furthermore not to purchase them. When we will regain the sovereignty of our country, they will lose whatever they purchased, and the money they paid in that illegal transaction will not be refunded.
Moreover we warn them that until we regain control of the country, in the process of defending our rights, as they are mentioned in the Greek Constitution and in the internationally recognized Peoples’ Rights, we will proceed to all necessary actions (through our self-organization) to annul and sabotage their investment
No prospective investor should, therefore, dare to go on with any bargain shopping of public property and land in Greece, unless they realize the high risk of their investment. In this case, their investment will be “welcomed” in the country where any time someone takes away the freedom of the people, someone like Kanaris is born or a bridge is blown up, like that over Gorgopotamos river.

Report GVB ACTION 07 June 11, Amsterdam
Today some of the Spanish / Greek / ‘Dutch Revolution’ group (solidarity group from Dam Square) attended the GVB workers’ 24 hour strike meeting. It was their third strike against 120 million euros worth of cuts the government is proposing.
We prepared a banner: “Spanish, Greek and European youth support the GVB workers. Let the banks pay!” (see photo). It was quite prominently next to the stage and cameras. We handed out all 500 hundred leaflets (see here). An annoucement was made from stage that we were there in solidarity, and the banner was pulled up on stage. See video here.
Our aim was to build up the links (in people’s conciousness and direct personal links) with the other workers struggling against the same problem – budget cuts and ‘savings’ to prop up big banks and financiers. That was apparently successful, the responses to our leaflets were, at least for my part, entirely positive.
The applause following the announcement that ‘Greek, Spanish, other Europeans (and other unions’ members)’ supported the strike action, received a rousing applause (the video just cuts out the first part that directly refers to us unfortunately, to be rectified). It was a strong first step in the direction of breaking down barriers (incl. false media stories) between Greek, Spanish, other Europeans and Dutch workers.
There were at least several thousand workers in attendance. We had low turnout from our Dam group, but those of us who attend gained a very valuable experience. The power of mass collective action was clear. Already there are suggestions from inside the right wing to tone the budget cuts down. Nevertheless, the speakers vowed to keep striking until their demands are met.
It is always uplifting to see the working class in action, this was no exception.
